Summary:Nonlinear dynamics of Josephson plasma oscillations in intrinsic Josephson junctions formed in high Tc superconductors is studied based on numerical simulations. The dynamics is described by a differential equation similar to sine-Gordon equation. We discuss within classical dynamics that the eigenmodes, well defined in linearized equation, are modified by the nonlinear effects. Especially we concentrate on the formation of the so-called “breather modes”, which gives rise to the mixing of eigenmodes.
