Summary:Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has acquired a pivotal role in modern cardiology. It represents the gold standard for biventricular volume and systolic function assessment. Moreover, CMR allows for non-invasive myocardial tissue evaluation, highlighting tissue edema, fibrosis, fibro-fatty infiltration and iron overload. This manuscript aims to review the impact of CMR in the main inflammatory and infiltrative cardiomyopathies, providing details on specific imaging patterns and insights regarding the most relevant trials in the setting.
