A Rh(III)-catalyzed aromatic C–H bond carbenoid functionalization of triazenes by α-diazomalonates has been developed, with features of mild reaction condition and high efficiency. Furthermore, the functionalized triazenes could be subject to divergent synthesis. [Display omitted]
