Degradation of the Herbicide (2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid) Using a Photoreactor with Exciplex Lamps

We present the results of tests of a compact flow-through reactor for neutralization of a broad class of persistent toxic compounds. As the toxicant we used the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, and we used exciplex lamps with different emission wave lengths (λ ~ 222 nm and 172 nm). We show...

Summary:We present the results of tests of a compact flow-through reactor for neutralization of a broad class of persistent toxic compounds. As the toxicant we used the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, and we used exciplex lamps with different emission wave lengths (λ ~ 222 nm and 172 nm). We show the experimental decrease in the amount of organic compounds vs. irradiation time as obtained from the absorption spectra.
