Summary:Willem Scholten et al. are to be applauded for continuing the discussion about how we talk about drugs and drug use in law, policy, practice and in society ('Access to treatment with controlled medicines: rationale and recommendations for neutral, precise, and respectful language', Public Health, vol 153). It's a much needed discussion. However, while welcoming the project overall, Barrett questions the authors' rejection of 'criminal law' to describe drug laws.
