Effect of Phosphorus and Carbon on Crystallization and Soft Magnetic Properties of Iron-Based Amorphous Alloys

The effect of phosphorus and carbon on crystallization and magnetic properties of iron-based soft magnetic amorphous alloy containing up to 22 at.% B is studied. Ribbons with compositions Fe a Si 6 B 22 PbC c Nb 0.85 Cu 0.65 ( a = 68, 66, 64 and 62; b = 2.5, 1.5, 1.25 and 1; c = 0, 3, 2.25 and 7.5)...

Summary:The effect of phosphorus and carbon on crystallization and magnetic properties of iron-based soft magnetic amorphous alloy containing up to 22 at.% B is studied. Ribbons with compositions Fe a Si 6 B 22 PbC c Nb 0.85 Cu 0.65 ( a = 68, 66, 64 and 62; b = 2.5, 1.5, 1.25 and 1; c = 0, 3, 2.25 and 7.5) are fabricated by melt spinning. Crystallization of the alloy under heating and its properties are studied by x-ray diffractometry, differential scanning calorimetry, and vibrating sample magnetometry. The composition and the heat treatment of the alloy with the best soft magnetic properties are determined.
