| Abstract | During the early stages of exponential growth, cultures of
Bacillus cereus grown in a complex glucose medium contained relatively large amounts of nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide which diminished rapidly with subsequent development. The reduction of intracellular nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide concentration appears to be related to the induction of a functional tricarboxylic acid cycle. The results presented here suggest that an inhibitor is produced during the growth of
B. cereus which interferes with nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide synthesis. |
