Summary:The aim of this scientific paper is to determine the extent to which knowledge sharing mediates the relationship between knowledge donating and organizational performance. Based on literature review and relying on the theoretical perspective “Knowledge Based View” the research hypotheses were formulated. Through a transactional study and with Mexican organizations of the Public sector through the perception of 239 public servants the hypotheses were supported. A multivariate analysis (SEM) was performed. The results of this research confirm that knowledge collecting influences knowledge sharing only when it is related to knowledge donating, and confirm that knowledge sharing is a mediating variable between knowledge donating and organizational performance. This research leads us to prove that in the public sector organizations the strategic direction of organizations must be reoriented towards their internal resources as the source of organizational effectiveness.
