A fluorometric method for the enzymatic determination of normal concentrations of urinary glucose

Summary: | An enzymatic fluorometric method is described for the determination of the low glucose concentrations normally present in the urine from subjects in the fasting state. The method is an adaptation of existing spectrophotometric procedures using hexokinase (HK) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PDH). The non-specific fluorescence of urine is almost completely removed by treating the urine with a mixed ion exchange resin. The chief advantage of this method over the spectro-photometric procedure is its low cost. |
