Summary:A simple, sensitive and precise method is described for the fluorometric determination of tocopherol in sheep plasma. Precautions taken at each step of the procedure to guard against oxidative losses give recoveries of 93–100%. The variation in free tocopherol level with seasonal pasture change and pregnancy ranged from 128 μg tocopherol 100 ml plasma (SE 6.76) in nonpregnant ewes on dry summer feed to 284 μg tocopherol 100 ml (SE 10.4) at full term.
