Summary:Doppler echocardiography is a logical companion to ultrasound imaging in the diagnosis and quantification of valvular heart disease. The continued application of our knowledge of hemodynamics should extend our current uses of Doppler echocardiography to allow more intelligent management of patients with known or suspected valvular heart disease.
