Summary:The investigation on an assessment of sweet sorghum cultivars for ethanol production was carried out during month of June–October, in Kharif 2008 and 2010. Twenty sweet sorghum genotypes were evaluated for juice yield and sugar quality parameters. The maximum juice yield, total sugars and calculated ethanol yield were observed in the genotypes SPSSH-31, SPSSH-29, SPSSV-35 and SPH-1670 in Kharif trials. While harvesting period of sweet sorghum at 45 days after 50% flowering is appropriate to get desired o brix, juice yield and total sugars. The genotype CSV 19 SS was found promising for juice and sugar quality parameters followed by CSH 22 SS and SPSSV 6.
