Summary:Myxofibrosarcoma is common in the extremities of elderly people and is characterized by a high frequency of local recurrence. We report herein a case of a 72-year-old male who presented with a 5-year history of right scrotal swelling and a month history of painful swelling in the scrotal area. Computed tomography scan revealed a scrotal tumor 5 cm in size and a tumor in the rectum. He subsequently underwent right high orchiectomy and rectal dissection with colostomy. The scrotal tumor was histopathologically diagnosed as a myxofibrosarcoma; the rectal tumor was a leiomyosarcoma. The patient underwent tumor resection for recurrence and left inguinal metastasis, but soon developed local recurrences and lymph node metastasis of the left iliac area. Chemotherapy with mesna, adriamycin, ifosfamide, and dacarbazine (MAID) resulted in partial remission. We report the rare case of myxofibrosarcoma in the spermatic cord for which chemotherapy with MAID was an effective treatment.
