Summary:This work deals with the structural modifications of FeSi and FeSiAl foils when subjected to a thermochemical nitriding treatment (TNT) performed in a fluidized-bed laboratory furnace. The investigations on the nitrided samples were carried out by optical and SEM microscopic observations, X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Both the compound and diffusion layers were investigated.
