Linear Chain Compounds of Molybdenum(II) Acetate Linked by Pyrazine, 4,4′-Bipyridine, and 1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane

A series of linear-chain complexes of molybdenum(II) acetate linked by bidentate bridging ligands, [Mo2(O2CCH3)4L]n (L = pyrazine (pyz), 4,4′ -bipyridine (4,4′-bpy), and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (dabco)), have been prepared, and their crystal structures determined by an X-ray diffraction method...

Summary:A series of linear-chain complexes of molybdenum(II) acetate linked by bidentate bridging ligands, [Mo2(O2CCH3)4L]n (L = pyrazine (pyz), 4,4′ -bipyridine (4,4′-bpy), and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (dabco)), have been prepared, and their crystal structures determined by an X-ray diffraction method. It has been shown that the relatively weak coordinations of the bridging ligands at the axial positions of Mo2(O2CCH3)4 (Mo–N = 2.619 (8)—2.658(6) Å) can effectively control the arrangement of the dimer units to give chain structures with good linearities. No significant interactions between the dimer units have been observed.
