Summary: | Pilomatrixoma, a benign skin appendageal tumor, is seen commonly in head and neck. Pilomatrixoma also known as pilomatricoma or calcifying epithelioma of Malherbe. These lesions are typically found in the head and neck region, but also occur in the upper extremities and are rarely reported in other sites. Most cases of pilomatrixoma occur in children under the age of 7 and the condition is twice as common in females as in males. Pilomatrixomas are frequently misdiagnosed when the evaluation is based on clinical or radiographic examination alone. Therefore, the final diagnosis requires histopathological examination. |
