Summary:•Simple and cheap electronic circuit to extract the 4 unknown parameters of the Cole-Cole impedance model.•The proposed technique requires two sets of measurements only.•A set of nonlinear equations fed with two data points leeds to the 4 unknown parameters.•Experimental results show very good agreement with standard expensive impedance analyzers. We introduce a novel and simple experimental technique to extract all four parameters of a single dispersion Cole-Cole impedance model by performing two measurements only. The method is centered around embedding the unknown impedance within an electronic sinusoidal oscillator network and then measuring at two different oscillation frequencies the start-up amplifier gain. Subsequently, solving together a set of nonlinear equations yields all four unknowns. The accuracy of the method is experimentally assessed in comparison with measurements using a precision impedance analyzer.
