Summary: | At least for those with a stake in the performance of the next presidential administration, the circumstances seemed to demand empirically & historically informed practical thinking about how George W. Bush's successor should approach such responsibilities as structuring, leading, & controlling executive government at the federal level. Bearing in mind that Governance, since its inception in 1988, has served as a forum for the theoretical & practical discussion of executive politics, public policy, administration, & the organization of the state, the journal's coeditors decided to commission a set of compact essays for publication during the forty-fourth president's first year in office. The present issue features the first three of these essays; several more are in preparation for the issue due out in July. Adapted from the source document. |
