Summary:A microbial biosensor analyzer for determination of the biological oxygen demand index was made and appraised. A mixed culture of bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas immobilized in an agar gel was a biologically sensitive element of the biosensor system; a transducer was an amperometric system of the Clark’s electrode, the maximum value of the variation of oxygen concentration in the measurement medium was the signal parameter being measured. The working characteristics of the microbial biosensor analyzer as well as the conditions of determinations and the algorithm of computing the biological oxygen demand index were elaborated on real objects of technogenic waters.
