Summary:The Thermo Lignum ® process of pest control, which uses high temperatures while controlling the relative humidity, provides a practical option for large-scale pest treatments of entomological collections within a reasonable time. However, the potential effects of this treatment upon DNA in the specimens have been questioned. The preliminary results of a study to investigate this problem are outlined, and other effects that the treatment might have on materials found in entomological collections are examined.
