Tetra- and Polynuclear Metal Complexes Derived from an Oxamido Homodinuclear Cu(II) Complex as a Chelating Agent
The homodinuclear Cu(II) complex, [(H 2 L)Cu 2 ].2H 2 O, of an oxamido ligand, 1,6-di( o -hydroxyphenyl)-4,7,10,13-tetraza-3, 14-dimethyl-2,14-diene-1,8,9, 16-hexadecatetraone, H 6 L, was used as a chelating agent towards metal cations. Homo-and heterotetranuclear and polynuclear complexes of the ty...

]n are obtained. Addition of LiOH as a deprotonating agent plays an important rule in producing different products. In addition, on changing the molar ratios of the reactants, different complexes were obtained. The products were characterized by chemical analyses, UV-Visible, IR and ESR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and magnetic moment determinations. Antiferromagnetic interactions between adjacent metal cations were observed and are attributed to the effect of the oxamido linkage and chloride or oxygen bridges in transferring magnetic effects between different metallic cations in the complex molecules.
