Summary:A new pendant-arm macrocyclic ligand, N,N′-bis(2-cyanoethyl)-3,4:9,10-dibenzo-1,12-diaza-5,8-dioxacyclopentadecane (L), was synthesized in 93% yield by alkylating 3,4:9,10-dibenzo-1,12-diaza-5,8-dioxacyclopentadecane with acrylonitrile. Its crystal structure was determined and its copper(II) complex was also prepared. All compounds were characterized by IR, NMR, elemental analyses and UV-Vis.
