Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate Catalyzed by Co(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) Complexes Bearing N-Methyl-N-((pyridin-2-yl)methyl)cyclohexanamine

Synthesis and structural characterization of novel [M(nmpc)Cl2] n (M = Co and Zn, n = 1; M = Cu, n = 2) complexes bearing N‐methyl‐N‐((pyridin‐2‐yl)methyl)cyclohexanamine (nmpc) have been carried out. The molecular structures of [Co(nmpc)Cl2] and [Zn(nmpc)Cl2] were mononuclear with metal centers in...

Summary:Synthesis and structural characterization of novel [M(nmpc)Cl2] n (M = Co and Zn, n = 1; M = Cu, n = 2) complexes bearing N‐methyl‐N‐((pyridin‐2‐yl)methyl)cyclohexanamine (nmpc) have been carried out. The molecular structures of [Co(nmpc)Cl2] and [Zn(nmpc)Cl2] were mononuclear with metal centers in distorted tetrahedral geometries while [Cu(nmpc)Cl2]2 exist in dimeric form with distorted square pyramidal geometry. Catalytic activities in the presence of MMAO were assessed in MMA polymerization that resulted PMMA with an activity of 7.45 × 104 g PMMA/molCo · h at 60 °C.
