Summary:Three-dimensional fluid flow and heat transfer in an eccentric thermosyphon rotating about a vertical axis parallel to its own centerline are explored numerically using the SIMPLE-C algorithm under steady, laminar flow conditions. Results have been obtained for Rayleigh numbers up to 10 6 and Ekman numbers down to 2×10 −3 The effects of acceleration ratio and eccentricity are discussed. Special attention has been paid to the effect of the Coriolis force on the flow pattern and heat transfer rate.
