Summary: | Traditional moving picture coding created DCT and motion estimation as two unrelated parts of the whole algorithm. They are also studied separately. Each has its own criterion and algorithm. In this paper, based on the general analysis of the whole coding algorithm, we suggest a global coding criterion. From this criterion a so called "global decision method" for moving picture coding is presented. Simulation results show that this method call greatly increase the coding speed and get some gain in the compression ratio at the same coding speed. |
