Summary: | A simple home made AC susceptometer for use in a cold finger cryostat is described. The susceptibility coils, which have the secondary coils wound in series opposition, are mounted perpendicular to the cryostat cold finger, and the sample is mounted on a copper strip which is passed through the center of the coils. In this way, temperature gradient effects are minimized. Similarly, the response of the copper strip itself does not noticeably influence the results, due to the symmetry of the coil arrangement. Representative results, obtained from polycrystalline La
