Synthesis and Crystal Structure of an Iron(II) Complex With Nitronyl Nitroxides

An iron(II) complex with nitronyl nitroxides, [Fe II (NIT4Py) 2 (N(CN) 2 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] (NIT4Py = 2-(4′-pyridyl)- 4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl 3-oxide), was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analyses, and IR spectrum. X-ray analysis reveals that the cen...

Summary:An iron(II) complex with nitronyl nitroxides, [Fe II (NIT4Py) 2 (N(CN) 2 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] (NIT4Py = 2-(4′-pyridyl)- 4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl 3-oxide), was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analyses, and IR spectrum. X-ray analysis reveals that the center Fe(II) ion is six-coordinated with a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The adjacent monomeric entities are linked by hydrogen bonds to generate a 3D structure.
