Summary:SUMMARY The frequency of HLA antigens of the A and B loci in 21 patients with spinal cord injury and three patients with cerebral damage complicated by heterotopic ossification was compared with the frequency seen in 740 healthy controls. No significant difference in the frequency of HLA antigens was detected between the two groups. In contrast to a previous study, when the spinal cord injury patients complicated by heterotopic ossification were compared to healthy controls, there was no increase in the frequency of HLA B18. Further studies of the HLA system in patients with heterotopic ossification are warranted.
