Influence of dose build-up rate with irradiation by manganese ions on the composition of the surface layers and mechanical properties of carbon steel

The influence of irradiation by manganese ions with energy 45 keV and dose 5 × 10 16 ion/cm 2 and dose build-up rate 10 – 50 μA/cm 2 on the composition of the surface layers and morphology of the surface and mechanical properties of carbon steel St3sp is investigated. Achange in the micro-hardness a...

Summary:The influence of irradiation by manganese ions with energy 45 keV and dose 5 × 10 16 ion/cm 2 and dose build-up rate 10 – 50 μA/cm 2 on the composition of the surface layers and morphology of the surface and mechanical properties of carbon steel St3sp is investigated. Achange in the micro-hardness and fatigue resistance as a function of the dose build-up rate and smoothing of the surface under the effect of ion bombardment are established.
