Summary:In the interest of a science of simplicity, investigation within coating technology calls for a step towards overcoming the drawbacks of conventional methodologies, e.g., costly nanofabrication and naive transmittance measurement. In this study, we present a simple and yet highly comprehensive process throughout an all-organic fabrication, surface characterization, dynamic fogging profiling, and optical character recognition test. The optical coating was prepared by an affordable process. When mixed with our functional monomer, it showed a great anti-fog functionality (below to 10° of water contact angle). Herewith, we devised two novel analytical methods based on HSV color measurement and optical character recognition with using a smartphone. After all, we expect these feasible and holistic methods to enable the simpler and realistic investigation of the anti-fog materials.
