Synthesis of CaO/Fe2O3 nanocomposite as an efficient nanoadsorbent for the treatment of wastewater containing Cr (III)

In this study, CaO/Fe 2 O 3 nanocomposite was studied as an efficient and novel adsorbent for the sorption of chromium (III) from aqueous media. Different analyses including FTIR, XRD, TGA-DTG, SEM/EDAX, and TEM were used to study the characteristics of CaO/Fe 2 O 3 nanocomposite. The highest sorpti...

Summary:In this study, CaO/Fe 2 O 3 nanocomposite was studied as an efficient and novel adsorbent for the sorption of chromium (III) from aqueous media. Different analyses including FTIR, XRD, TGA-DTG, SEM/EDAX, and TEM were used to study the characteristics of CaO/Fe 2 O 3 nanocomposite. The highest sorption efficiency using CaO/Fe 2 O 3 nanocomposite was achieved 97.53%, which showed a high removal efficiency of Cr (III). The maximum adsorption capacity of CaO/Fe 2 O 3 nanocomposite using Langmuir isotherm model was obtained 60.60 mg/g. Also, the adsorption data were best fitted to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model. Moreover, the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic nature.
