Summary:Nonspherical polymer particles were prepared by spraying an aqueous dispersion of hydrophobic solvent droplets (containing dissolved polymers) into methanol. Nonspherical particles were prepared for polystyrene and poly(methyl methacrylate), and spherical particles were prepared for poly(ethyl methacrylate) and poly(i-butyl methacrylate). It is concluded that condensation of the polymer molecules at the interface of the droplet is a key factor for the formation of nonspherical polymer particles.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
