Summary: | On a primary converged coat-hanger chamber and a secondary noncircular chamber, reverse droplet-shaped and eye-shaped through-holes were perforated to facilitate the velocity uniformities inside the die. In addition to this reference design, several combinations of the hole number and interval including the vertical-hole position were tested and optimized using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation package. In the optimized design, the variations of the pressure and the velocity of the squeezed resin at the die exit were improved by approximately 6.0% compared with the already accepted results of the reference die design. |
