Summary: | The current study observed the association between personality traits (extraversion, neuroticism, agreeableness) punitiveness, unrelenting standards, self-compassion and overall marital satisfaction among married people in Turkey, India and UK. The study participants who completed the online the Big Five Inventory, Self-Compassion Scale, Young schema questionnaire-short form; Version 3 and Marriage Satisfaction Scale were comprised of 627 volunteer married people between 15 and 82 years old. In the final block of hierarchical analysis, self-compassionate was the most significant predictor of marital satisfaction among Turkish, Indian and British context. The findings strengthen the role of personality, and schemas for mental health professionals working with couples. |
