Summary: | Lynch talks about terrorism, the "Blowback" thesis, and the UK media. One of the last political stories he covered in his journalistic career was a visit to Afghanistan by Gordon Brown, then the UK's Chancellor of the Exchequer, to meet British troops in Helmand Province. The soldiers were there, he claimed--in the soundbite Lynch used in his report for BBC News--to keep people safe from terrorism, on the streets of towns and cities back at home. Shortly afterward, Brown took over from Tony Blair to become Prime Minister, and later led Labour to defeat in the General Election of 2010. |
