Effect of zeolite hydroxyl active site distribution on adsorption of Pb(II) and Ni(II) pollutants from water system by polymeric nanofibers

Two Polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP)/chitosan/HZSM-5 nanofibers synthesized with various hydroxyl groups were used for Pb(II) and Ni(II) adsorption in water system. The close aluminum proportion in HZSM-5(1) provided by Al(NO 3 ) 3 and HZSM-(2) provided by Al(OH) 3 were 8.8 and 45.8%, respectively. The na...

Summary:Two Polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP)/chitosan/HZSM-5 nanofibers synthesized with various hydroxyl groups were used for Pb(II) and Ni(II) adsorption in water system. The close aluminum proportion in HZSM-5(1) provided by Al(NO 3 ) 3 and HZSM-(2) provided by Al(OH) 3 were 8.8 and 45.8%, respectively. The nanofibers were characterized by FESEM, FTIR and TGA. The adsorption data were well interpreted by Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity of PVP/chitosan/HZSM-5(2) with higher close hydroxyl sites was 89.27 mg.g −1 for Ni(II) and 303.00 mg.g −1 for Pb(II) ions which was greater than q m of PVP/chitosan/HZSM-5(1). The interaction of lead and nickel ions onto the PVP/chitosan/HZSM-5(2) was antagonistic in binary system.
