Summary:This article provides a description and analysis of these strategies responding to suppression and persecution. The materials used here are based on more than a decade of fieldwork research the author has conducted in various parts of China, formal and informal interviews with Chinese Christian leaders, fieldwork reports and papers from various researchers and research assistants, social media sources available on the internet, and news, scholarly, or non-scholarly publications in Chinese or English. The primary goals of this article are to establish a typology of Chinese Christian responses to persecution and examine the growing resistance in response to increased persecution.
