Nonaqueous preparation of nanocomposite films containing both polyoxometalate and phthalocyanine with bifunctional electrocatalytic properties

New bifunctional nanocomposite films containing water-insolvable cobalt tetraaminophthalocyanine (CoTAPc) and 2:18 tungstophosphate anions (P 2W 18) were successfully fabricated using the electrostatic layer-by-layer (LbL) assembled method in nonaqueous (DMF) media. Summary:New bifunctional nanocomposite films containing water-insolvable cobalt tetraaminophthalocyanine (CoTAPc) and 2:18 tungstophosphate anions (P 2W 18) were successfully fabricated using the electrostatic layer-by-layer (LbL) assembled method in nonaqueous (DMF) media. UV–vis spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and electrochemical method were used to characterize the assembled multilayer films. UV–vis measurements revealed regular film growth with each four-layer {P 2W 18/CoTAPc/PSS/PAH} adsorption. AFM analysis provides the morphology of the multilayer films. The cyclic voltammetric curves indicate that the film shows electrocatalytic activity for chlorate anion.
