Summary:[Cu II (chxn) 2 I]I (chxn = 1 R ,2 R -diaminocyclohexane) has been synthesized, which is the first report of an iodide-bridged Cu( ii ) chain structure. This chain compound shows S = 1/2 Heisenberg weak antiferromagnetism ( J = −0.3 cm −1 ) and magnetic relaxation ( τ = 43 ms at 1.8 K) with a Raman process in a static field. [Cu II (chxn) 2 I]I shows S = 1/2 Heisenberg weak antiferromagnetism and magnetic relaxation. This work represents an unprecedented link between a quantum spin chain system and a spin dynamics system.
