Summary:[...]there had been reports recently in the literature concerning the potential toxicity related to the use of indocyanine green angiography in macular hole surgery.4 These concerns have prompted the search for other dyes, such as trypan blue, to stain the internal limiting membrane for facilitating its removal.5 As no angiographic examination was performed in the study using trypan blue, it remains to be seen whether these iatrogenic punctate chorioretinal lesions would develop in dye-assisted internal limiting membrane peeling surgery.
