Summary:Microemulsions were subject to numerous studies during the last decades, mainly because of their potential with respect to applications, but they are also interesting model systems for statistical mechanics. This is due to their rather complicated phase behaviour and the fascinating microstructures encountered in microemulsion forming systems. In the present contribution new developments in the investigation and understanding of these microstructures will be outlined.
