Summary:An original experiment on tomography reconstruction of the intensity distribution in a beam cross-section was performed. It is based on an optical mapping of the beam scintillation due to interaction with the residual gas. Dedicated software realizing the algebraic reconstruction techniques was developed. In accordance with numerical simulations and experimental results, 4–8 projections are sufficient in most of the cases to reconstitute the intensity distribution in the cross-section with a good accuracy.
