Summary:Advances in the medical treatment of individuals diagnosed with breast cancer have led to a progressive increase in survival rates. Treatment consisting of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy may all contribute to the onset of movement impairment syndromes of the shoulder. Evidence supports the effectiveness of physical therapy interventions in the management of these syndromes. Clinical decision-making algorithms are frequently used to organize the process of examination and guide subsequent intervention. The purpose of this report is to describe an algorithm developed to classify movement impairment syndromes of the shoulder often seen after breast cancer treatment and to demonstrate the usefulness of this algorithm in the care of a specific patient case.
