noted that 17 of 20 patients with hemophilia who were positive for HBsAg and antibody to hepatitis delta virus (anti-HD), but only 8 of 51 hemophiliac patients who were positive for HBsAg but not for anti-HD, had presumptive diagnoses of chronic liver disease that were based on observations of abnormal levels of serum protein or persistently abnormal levels of aminotransferases.
