A natural pregnane from Sansevieria hyacinthoides

A study of the steroidal constituents of the leaves of Sansevieria hyacinthoides led to the isolation of 25 S-ruscogenin and a new natural pregnane: 1β, 3β-dihydroxy-5,16-pregnadien-20-one, whose structure was elucidated by spectroscopic methods and confirmed by chemical correlation.
