A preliminary study into the local solids fluxes in a downer reactor

A non-isokinetic sampling method was used to study the effects of gas velocity, solids circulation rate and axial and radial positions on the local solids flux in a gas–solids downer fluidized bed. The radial profiles of solids flux are highly dependent on the axial position. The local solids flux i...

Summary:A non-isokinetic sampling method was used to study the effects of gas velocity, solids circulation rate and axial and radial positions on the local solids flux in a gas–solids downer fluidized bed. The radial profiles of solids flux are highly dependent on the axial position. The local solids flux is also dependent on the overall solids circulation rate but not dependent on the gas velocity. The solids flux profiles in the downer were also found to be quite different from those reported in the riser.
