Summary:The analytical and experimental results for sixteen beam columns with uniform biaxial loading and an enforced axis of rotation are presented. The theoretical behaviour is predicted using a finite beam column element computer program which allows for non-linear elastic effects and the formation of complex plastic hinges. The iteration procedure increases the external loads incrementally, thus allowing the complete load-deflexion behaviour up to failure to be examined. A theoretical investigation is made of the effect of flange plates at the beam column ends, the number of lateral supports and geometrical imperfections.
