Summary:•Activated dolomite to enhance the photocatalytic activity of microsized-TiO2 based self-cleaning cement.•Comparison of photo-induced hydrophylicity.•Verification of self-cleaning performance. The present work deals with the assessment of self-cleaning performance of microsized-TiO2 based self-cleaning cement in terms of photon-induced hydrophilicity. Photo-induced hydrophilicity of the cement samples was determined through water contact angle measurements. Further, the self-cleaning performance of the cement was verified by staining Rhodamine B (RhB) dye on the surface of the cement and observing its decoloration in the presence of sunlight.
