Summary:This paper describes a technique for improving static voltage stability by rescheduling reactive power control variables. The algorithm is based on sensitivities of minimum eigen value with respect to reactive power control variables. Objective function selected is minimization of deviation of squares of reactive power control variables subject to desired increase in minimum eigen value of load flow Jacobian. Since minimum eigen value is system wise voltage stability index increase in load bus voltages as desired is also simultaneously observed. Using Lagrangian optimization technique closed form relations for corrections in reactive power control variables have been obtained. Developed methodology has been implemented on a 6-bus and 25 bus test systems.
