Summary:[Display omitted] •SnS/graphene nanocomposites have been prepared with Sn/graphene as the precursor.•The introduction of graphene prevents the agglomeration of SnS.•The reversible capacity of SnS/graphene is 575mAhg−1 after 50 cycles.•The synergistic effect results in superior reversible lithium storage performance. SnS/graphene nanocomposites have been prepared through a facile solvothermal reaction with Sn/graphene as the precursor. SnS particles are homogeneously sandwiched between graphene nanosheets. The electrochemical performances of the materials have been evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic discharge/charge cycling. Results show that the nanocomposites exhibit superior reversible lithium storage performance. The strategy presented in this work may provide an easy way for the fabrication of other metal sulfide/graphene nanocomposites.
